What to Do If OPPO Phone Won't Flash Charge

To solve the problem if the phone won't charge or the VOOC flash charge is not working, you may check the phone charging port and connection, restart the phone, and update the system. Read on and learn more about why your phone won't flash charge.

    About VOOC Flash Charge

    • Developed by OPPO independently, VOOC Flash Charge comes out with an intelligent *5-level safety mechanism, offering 4x faster charging than conventional chargers.

    • When your phone is being flash charged, you will see a yellow lightning sign on the top right corner of your OPPO phone screen and the VOOC tag on the lock screen.

Note: *5-level safety mechanism covers all aspects of the charging process from outlet to phone battery, from the adapter to the port and the internal parts.

    OPPO phone flash charging

Your OPPO phone can be flash-charged under the following conditions:

    1. Your phone should be VOOC compatible. Please refer to the actual product.

    2. Charge the phone with the original VOOC charging accessories (including the VOOC power bank).

Note: To flash charge your phone, connect it to the VOOC adapter using the VOOC cable, or connect the VOOC Power Bank directly to your phone. Your phone will not be flash charged if you use a single VOOC accessory.

     Battery Charging

What to do if your phone won't flash charge

    1. Check the phone charging port and connection

    • Check if the charging port is blocked, damaged, or loose. Remove any debris from the charging port. If the charging port is seriously loose, worn, corroded, or aging, stop charging to avoid unexpected faults such as leakage or short circuit, and send the phone to repair at once.

    • Check the connection of your phone charging port, VOOC adapter, and VOOC cable, and reconnect the VOOC adapter to the USB port. Make sure that everything is plugged in firmly.

Note: If your phone has a removable battery, remove and reinstall it. Try other VOOC adapters on your phone, or charge other VOOC-compatible phones with your VOOC adapter, and see if you fixed the issue.

    2. Check the phone's temperature.

Keep the temperature of your OPPO phone in check when charging. The suitable temperature when VOOC/ Super VOOC is charging normally is in the range of 16 to 45°C.

    3. Restart your phone.

Unplug all charging cables and restart your phone. To restart your OPPO phone, press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for at least 8 seconds or until you see the OPPO logo.

    4. Update the system.

Go to [Settings] > [Software Updates] / [System Updates] / [About Device], detect and update your phone system to the latest software version, and see if this fixed the issue.

    5. Perform Component Check

Run a quick check on the battery using your OPPO phone. See What is Common Problems Detection on OPPO Phone.

    • For ColorOS 6.0 to 6.1: Go to [Tools] folder > [Phone Manager] > [Quick Check] / [Component Check] > [Start Check] / [Run Test]. Select [Battery & charging] and disable other components. Tap [Check] / [Start Detection] > plug in your OPPO phone's charger.

    • For ColorOS 5.0 to 5.2: Go to [Tools] folder > [Phone Manager] > [Diagnostics] > [Run Test]. Select [Battery & charging] and disable other components. Tap [Start Detection] and plug in your OPPO phone's charger.

    • For ColorOS 3.2: Go to [Phone Manager] > [Common Problems Detection] > [Detect Now]. Select [Battery & charging] and disable other components. Tap [Start Detection] and plug in your OPPO phone's charger.

Note: Using a charger or mobile power bank is recommended.

    6. Back up and reset the phone.

Back up your phone to secure all the data stored in your OPPO phone and reset it. To reset, see How to Factory Reset an OPPO Phone.
